MEET MELANIE JIPP

I’ve always been fascinated by how things work, especially people, and was passionate about Biology. I wanted to learn about biology in a way that helped others and decided to work in healthcare. At Foothill College, I completed requirements in their Radiology Technician program and took an emergency responder course while I waited to hear about my application. When I finished the course, I decided to get my EMT license and gain experience in Emergency Care. I enjoy everything from learning about medical emergencies, working in a fast paced continuously changing environment, to helping put patients at ease on what is sometimes their worst day. I expect to complete my EMT Certificate in December 2016 and my AA in Psychology in June 2017, both at Foothill College. I hope to someday work in a Radiology department that works closely with an Emergency Department.

MEET JIMMY PHAM

After graduating high school in 2015, I did not know what I wanted to be. I had considered majoring a high-paying career like engineering and tech to make a comfortable living in the Silicon Valley. However, rather than going to a four-year university unprepared, I attended De Anza and Foothill Colleges to get a better sense of what I truly wanted to do. I saved a substantial amount of money at the same time. From a young age, I was in the Vietnamese Catholic youth group, a unisex non-profit organization akin to the Boy and Girl Scouts that teaches young people to be virtuous people and good Samaritans. During that time, I learned basic first aid and was fascinated by it. Even today, I always wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives. Currently starting my second year at Foothill College and majoring in nursing before transferring to a four-year university, I am a person who loves exploring and learning new things!
