Microsoft | Mechanical Engineer, Hololens / BS Mechanical Engineering (Stanford)
Josh will share his journey and helpful tips for students interested in going into STEM fields. He will describe his day-to-day working at Microsoft HoloLens, from designing 3D parts in CAD (computer-aided design) software, to building prototypes using laser cutters and 3D printers, to traveling to Asia where the final parts are made.
Meet Joshua Mendoza
Joshua Mendoza grew up in a low-income household and is the son of Mexican immigrants. No one in his family graduated from high school, let alone college. At first glance, it seemed the cards were stacked against him. Today, he is a Stanford University graduate; a Mechanical Engineer working on Microsoft HoloLens; and the founder and executive director of Destined for X, a non-profit aimed at empowering students in the fields of entrepreneurship, business, STEAM, and community service. And this is just the beginning... he's still 23 years old, after all! He's very excited to be returning to LAHS after speaking at STEM Week in 2016, and having 3 LAHS students take part in Destined for X's pilot program this summer!
