Diana Albarran

Diana Albarrán Chicas, an AVID student herself, grew up in a traditional Mexican family. She who was born in Mexico and was the first in her family to graduate from high school and attend college. She remembers accompanying her parents to the strawberry fields as a child.
She found out about engineering during a summer camp, as a junior in High School. She decided to pursue it and major in Electrical Engineering from MIT.
She is currently the Near Field Range Test Section Manager at Space Systems Loral, where she is responsible for the company’s unique antenna subsystem test facility. Diana is passionate about encouraging and empowering students of underrepresented communities to pursue higher education in STEM fields. She is the Co-Founder of Empower Educational Services and Latinas in STEM.
