Second Lives: Architectural Transformation for Sustainability

Architecture + Environmental Design + Sustainability

Berkeley dual-degree designer Snow Huang shares her winding path into architecture, then turns Los Altos High's award-winning LEED classrooms into a field guide to sustainable design. She is joined by student designer Eva Peng, who presents her embARC project and what she learned by designing.

Meet the Speaker:

Snow Huang is a dual-degree graduate student in Architecture and Landscape Architecture at UC Berkeley. She studies how old buildings and neighborhoods can be updated for a future with less carbon, instead of being torn down and replaced. In her work, sustainable design means answering environmental problems with strategies that can actually be built. Before Berkeley, she worked in city planning and design, in architectural academia and design media, and in art and design education. She has also served as a graduate instructor for embARC, Berkeley's summer design academy for high school students.
