John Mark Agosta

The field of Artificial Intelligence, now under much scrutiny in the media, has gone through several winters and summers. Having spent the last 40 years working alongside many of the field’s founders, I will offer a perspective on its origins and goals, in the specific quest to improve and automate decision-making under uncertainty. AI’s foundations borrows methods and philosophy from diverse disciplines and is today an active area of research and a source of insights into human understanding.
